  1. THE CONTROLS: AN OVERVIEW

  3. The controls for Rescue! are in two places:
  4.  
  5. 1) The MENUS (to control the away team, the ship's computer, dock with Starbases, and other things)
  6.  
  7. 2) The COMMAND CONSOLE Window (to use the engines, weapons and defense systems)
  8.  
  9. You can use the mouse or the keyboard, whichever you prefer.
  10.  
  11. 窶｢ To use the MOUSE, select the menus and click in the Command Console.
  12. 窶｢ To use the KEYBOARD, use the menu command-key equivalents and the Command Console key equivalents.  To learn what they are, browse through the menus and check out the sections of this help manual titled "The Command Console" and "Keyboard Equivalents."

It's better to try to become familiar with the keyboard controls and play the game from the keyboard; that way you can close the Command Console Window while you play to free up space on the screen for other windows like the Status Report or the Long Range Scan.  It's also a lot faster than hunting around with the mouse for the correct button or menu item.
